New Work: Morning Tree Studies 2
In this second series I revisited the park by the Courthouse in downtown Santa Fe. I like revisiting the same spot at different times: the light comes up later, I notice things I didn't see before. I like leaving it up to my intuition and pure chance.
Morning Tree Studies in Santa Fe
The morning light is special in Santa Fe. Sharp, deep blue, it radiates a special quality. I like to see it streaming down through the leaves and branches of the trees. I focus on the leaves, then the trunks and crossing branches, bringing out the motion and energy I sense in the trees. They move to the song of morning.

We had a beautiful Spring flowering in Santa Fe this year. In this series, I concentrated on the flowering Pear trees at the Roundhouse Capitol Building. I used a combination of double exposure, slow shutter and intentional camera movement as part of my process. Intuition and pure chance play a great part as well.
