Drew learned the technical aspects of photography at San Francisco State and U.C. Berkeley. His real education came from studying the work of great photographers and artists in museums and galleries. Everything from classical to modern art has informed his work.
Drew Reese was born in Annapolis, Md. but he was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2000 Drew and his wife moved to Joshua Tree, Ca. where he turned his focus on the desert landscape. He participated in shows at the Joshua Tree Art Gallery, the ACE show at the Palm Springs Art Museum and other local venues.
He now resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he shows in the Santa Fe Studio Tour and continues his photo explorations of the hi-desert landscape.
I like to think that my work is about seeing
movement. Creating images that are unique to my vision, using double exposure, slow shutter speeds and intentional camera movement as part of my process. Intuition and chance play an important part. It's like shooting film, you never know what you really have until you're back in front of the computer. This is what I find exciting about this way of shooting.
